“Making wine is not just a job, it’s a life. You have to do it wholeheartedly or not at all.” Listening to Clara and Hugo, the children of Peter and Sandra Fischer, the message comes through loud and clear. At Revelette, what is being passed on is a life philosophy. And freedom, in a setting that is “out of this world” – living, fresh and wild. Shared enjoyment, cooking together, big gatherings around the dinner table. The connection with the land and the seasons. The work and bold action undertaken in response to climate change. A form of militancy, but without the fanfare… In short, a healthy life dedicated to healthy wines, in which they strive to “capture the terroir in the bottle in its purest form.” On the advice of their father, Clara and Hugo first explored other options. “I didn’t want to push them into taking over. I did what I always do: the opposite of what they expect me to do! It was them who came to me.” The way ahead is clear: “We’re going to keep Revelette as it is and develop a négociant activity offering high-quality and affordable wines that reflect our spirit. Exporting is all well and good, but our wines have to be enjoyed in Jouques first.”

Vineyards

25 hectares of vines, including 16 hectares of AOC COTEAUX D’AIX EN PROVENCE and 9 hectares of VIN DE PAYS, in the Aix en Provence back country, at an altitude of 350 metres. Organically grown (Ecocert). 75% red grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Carignan. White 25% grape varieties: Chardonnay, Rolle, Sauvignon Blanc, Ugni blanc, Roussane.

Cellar

Harvested by hand and transported in crates or small trailers, rigorous sorting in the vineyard, destemming, crushing depending on the year and type of wine. Native yeasts. Small capacity concrete tanks (50 and 100 hl). Complete temperature control.

Wines

Le Grand Blanc de Revelette • Le Grand Rouge de Revelette: Revelette’s “grands vins”, concentrated, rich and complex, vinified and aged in barrels • Château Revelette white • Château Revelette red • Château Revelette rosé: typical Provençal character, expressive, aromatic, aged in vats.
