Domaine Yves Cuilleron

Chavanay

The domaine wasn’t supposed to come to me, but the vine is part of my roots.” Yves Cuilleron’s uncle’s children chose a different career to winemaking, so Yves took over his uncle’s wine domaine and thus became a wine producer. And he has even become one of the most important wine producers in the Northern Rhône, as well as one of the most dynamic, to the great delight of the many fans of his single-vineyard wines and inspired blends. “I’ve given myself 10 years to teach my children what I do, how I do it and why I do it, and then it will be their story.” Edgar, his son, has joined the domaine as vineyard manager. “I always knew that I was going to work the land.” His approach to the craft is in keeping with the Cuilleron family credo that “wine is first and foremost made in the vineyards” using practices that are precise and carefully thought out: “Do only what is necessary, obtain the best grapes possible, vinify simply and without artifice… And above all, avoid preconceived ideas so that you can continue learning.
